Transcend Packaging – based near Newport in Wales – is a relative newcomer to the sector but within months of opening earlier this year, it has won major contracts in the UK including one with fast food giant McDonald’s.
The company says it has made an £11m investment, is also set to receive £500,000 funding from the Welsh Government for decarbonisation and aims to grow its workforce in to more than 200 by 2021.
“We have an experienced management team with over 150 years of experience and numerous awards for quality and service,” says the company’s founder and managing director Lorenzo Angelucci, who was previously managing director of both Seda UK and Seda North America and handled the McDonalds account there.
Mark Varney, sales and marketing director at Transcend, says the company was created to bridge a gap in the market between SMEs and PLCs, offering the wide customer base an alternative to ‘the norm’.
“Our team is meeting with customers every day,” he adds. “Across the board, they are looking to change parts of their packaging portfolio to make their products more sustainable.”
